UNREST

UNREST is a project I made about riots that happened in Leeds from 1900-now. Locations of the riots are photographed in the present day and are presented with text to amplify the meaning and connect past with present. The project invites the spectator to contemplate the meaning of what happened; to consider the relationship between memory and place, and whether photography can be used as a way of communicating anything about this. In the making of the project I was inspired by the work of John Angerson and Joel Sternfeld.
